Why swatch first
Two screens never show the same color, and no photograph carries weight or hand. A swatch tells you whether a green is olive or grass, whether a linen is shirt-weight or curtain-weight, and whether the print scale suits the garment you have in mind.
What to do with a swatch
Hold it against your skin in daylight. Crush it in your fist and see how it recovers. Drape it over your hand to judge how it will fall. If you are matching something, take the swatch to it rather than trusting memory.
How to request one
Where a swatch pack isn't listed here, email us with the fabric names you're considering through the contact page and we'll send swatches out. Tell us the project too — it usually changes which fabrics we'd suggest.
