Take it somewhere

Use these fabrics for modern quilts, English paper piecing, foundation paper piecing, garments, bags, patchwork, visible mending, home projects and whatever else the cloth persuades you to try.

How we choose fabric

We consider:

  • Fiber content and surface feel
  • Durability for the intended use
  • How the cloth cuts, presses and moves through a machine
  • Drape, opacity, stretch and weight where relevant
  • Color and print quality
  • Care requirements
  • Whether the fabric gives you enough useful information to plan a project

Specialty-fabric assistance

Our current collection focuses on fabrics that are pleasant to handle, clearly described and approachable for their intended use. That means we may carry fewer delicate sheers, specialty silks and materials that require highly specific handling. Need one for a project? Sourcing is our specialty — and we enjoy the research. Send us the brief and we will help locate it, recommend an alternative, or point you toward another stockist whose product standards we respect.

Questions people ask

What is quilting cotton?
Quilting cotton is a stable woven cotton commonly used for quilts, patchwork, bags, accessories and some structured garments. Product pages should state the fiber content, width and weight so you can judge whether it suits your project.
Can quilting cotton be used for clothing?
Yes, when the structure suits the garment. Quilting cotton works well for crisp shirts, skirts, dresses, pajamas and accessories, but it will not drape like rayon, silk or lightweight linen. Check the pattern recommendation before ordering.
Is fabric cut continuously?
When inventory permits, multiple units of the same fabric are cut as one continuous length. The exact unit and cutting rules appear on each product page.
